Kevin Theos
About this speaker
Kevin Theos is a 29-year member of the USPTA, an Elite Pro, and USPTA National board member. Kevin has launched his own company Theos Instructional Design, which is dedicated to content creation, employee training, and performance improvement in athletics, focusing on tennis. He previously served as USPTA Southern division president after serving several terms as a board member and Alabama chapter president. He is the creator of the USPTA Career and Leader Mentoring Program for which he was recognized in 2020 by receiving the President’s Paul Waldman Award.
Kevin played college tennis at Northeastern Illinois University and Illinois State University before attending law school at Northwestern University. He practiced law but returned to tennis after being presented with an opportunity to become the Executive Director of a non-profit that provided tennis and education programs to under-resourced youth in Birmingham, AL. He led program expansion that took the organization from one after-school program that served twenty children to twenty in-school, twelve after-school, and seventeen summer program sites that reached over 2,500 youth.
He joined USTA Southern as the first Tennis Service Representative in Alabama where he served for over sixteen years. During that time, he spearheaded numerous projects centered around player acquisition and retention and presented at state, sectional, and national conferences. He also attained an MS in Instructional Design and Development and left the USTA to work for Auburn University helping to design online courses.
